I stopped dreaming

Welcome to reThinkable - my Sunday newsletter where I share actionable money tips, strategies, and resources to help you make smarter money moves.
Read time: 3.2 minutes
Hey friend,
What are you daydreaming about nowadays? Maybe they’re along the lines of:
“I can’t wait until Friday”
“I wanna catch up watching The Last of Us”
“Mmm pineapple pizza….” or
“I just want a week where nothing explodes at work.”
But are those your BIG dreams? I’m talking about the kind of dreams that light you up. The kind you look back on and think, “I did THAT.”
When your daydreams are just “relief,” it’s time to dream bigger.
One of the worst days of my life wasn't dropping my pineapple pizza on the floor, or watching them kill my favorite character on Game of Thrones. It was the moment I realized I stopped dreaming.
7 years ago, I was an Analyst on Wall Street. 8:30 pm on a Friday night. I was still at the office, totally fried after another 80-hour week.
And weirdly… I felt happy.
All because Monday was July 4th and I finally had an extra day off. No meetings. No deadlines. Just sleep.
That’s when it hit me: Is this my dream now? 1 day off where I’m not completely burned out?
The wild part is that I was actually living 18-year-old-Vincent’s big dream. That fancy corporate job and good salary. It’s what I worked my butt off for in college.
But once I “made it”… I never asked myself: “Is this still what I want?”
That moment of realization shook me, but it was the start of a whole new path (hint: that’s why I’m in your inbox now 😎).
Now I want to ask you…
What was your dream when you were a kid?
When I was 10, all I wanted was for my mom to buy Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. That’s it.
My parents rarely “wasted” money on ice cream. And if they did, it would always be the cheapest brand they could find. And Ben & Jerry’s was the fancy expensive ice cream that all my friends raved about.
At the time, that dream felt huge.
Now, I can buy Ben & Jerry’s whenever I want (free will, baby). And that’s the funny thing.
When that dream finally came true… it stopped feeling like a dream.
That’s exactly what happened to me on Wall Street. I forgot to ask: “what’s next?”
So, what’s next?
Maybe it’s saving more money, quitting your toxic job, paying off your debt…
Go 1 step beyond that. Dream BIGGER.
What would life look like if you didn’t have to worry about money… like at all?
Would you be able to retire early and live stress-free? Maybe you'd be able to support your family and leave something behind. Or maybe you’ll be able to comfortably pursue what matters to you while you're still young.
But… Why am I asking you to do all this dreaming?
When you dream small, you aim small.
If your goal is to pay off a $6,000 credit card bill, you’ll focus on scraping together $6,000.
If your goal is to invest $100,000. Even if you don’t achieve that $100,000 goal, you might manage to hit $10,000 or $30,000. And that’s still a lot better than your original (smaller) $6,000 goal.
The bigger your dream, the bigger you think. Once you allow yourself to believe that’s possible, your brain starts noticing more opportunities and actively seeking answers: How do I increase my income? Where should I invest? What habits need to change?
Small goals keep you moving. Big dreams pull you forward.
So now I want to hear from you: What’s a big dream that you have. Reply to this email and let me know — I read every response, and I’d love to cheer you on.
The first step of achieving your dream is to write it into existence.
To making smarter money moves,

Cool things I found this week
These are the 9 highest paying college majors in 2025. Did your college major or industry make the list?
My friends and I started binge watching Alice in Borderland. It’s about a group of friends competing dangerous games in dystopian Tokyo to survive. If you like Squid Games, you’ll enjoy this show. It’s not the best show I’ve seen but it’s pretty entertaining.
